Frida Torresblanco is the CEO of Braven Films, an Academy member and an independent producer of film, documentaries and TV currently based in New York. As a partner for nine years with Alfonso Cuarón, Torresblanco produced, along with Guillermo del Toro, the Oscar-winning film PAN’S LABYRINTH.
Braven Films has recently signed an agreement with Viacom International for the development and production of international content in a beneficial First-Look Deal. Under the deal, Braven is currently developing multiple TV series with Viacom, such as CHOSEN DAMAGES, ARTEMISIA and BALENCIAGA, among others.
Frida’s latest film was DISOBEDIENCE, a romance written and directed by Sebastian Lelio (GLORIA), starring Rachel Weisz (THE FAVOURITE), Rachel McAdams (SPOTLIGHT) and Alessandro Niovla (AMERICAN HUSTLE) and produced in conjunction with Film4, Film Nation, Rachel Weisz and Ed Guiney (ROOM).
Braven Films is a film and TV production company with a slate of films including SATAN IS REAL, starring Ethan Hawke and Alessandro Nivola as Ira and Charlie Louvin, famed country gospel singers. Phil Morrison is set to direct, while Frida is producing the project along with Ryan Hawke and Alessandro Nivola. Jason Blum is executive producing and Protagonist Pictures will handle sales.
Another project in the development is STOLEN GIRL – a feature film written by Rebecca Pollock and Kas Graham, with James Kent attached to direct. Stolen Girl tells the extraordinary true story of Maureen Dabbagh, a woman from Virginia whose ex-husband stole away their 6 year-old daughter and took her to the Middle East in 1992.
From its inception, Braven has sought to develop and produce projects that are both artistically compelling and commercially successful. Collaborating with writers, directors, and artists from all over the world, Braven produces universal cinema, TV series and documentaries that illuminates the human condition.
Georgina GonzalezDirector of Development, Gaumont Television
Georgina Gonzalez currently serves as Director of Development in the SPLATAM team at Gaumont Television, which produces hit shows such as “Narcos,” “El Presidente,” “Arsène Lupin,” & “Barbarians.”
She previously launched the development department for the new production studio at Cinépolis, the second-largest theater chain worldwide, shepherding various films into production.
She started her career at Fox, Universal, MGM and the Univision-Netflix joint venture, Story House Entertainment, on series such as the worldwide success “El Chapo,” and the critically acclaimed “Tijuana”.
In parallel, through her production company, Off-Hollywood Films, she produced movies such as “The Reports on Sarah & Saleem,” (International Film Festival Rotterdam 2018 audience and jury awards), “Finding the Werewolf,” (PGA Diversity master class and IFP fellow 2018), “Sanctorum,” (Venice International Film Festival closing film 2019), “Martinez,” (Torino and Berlinale labs, Tribeca and AFS fund winner 2018), “Midday Cowboy,” (Mexican Academy Award nomination for best feature documentary 2020, now on Netflix), amongst others.
She graduated from CUEC-UNAM & USC’s Peter Stark film producing program as a Fulbright, FONCA & HBO scholar.
Liliana EspinozaProjects Director, NALIP
Liliana Espinoza is currently the Projects Director at the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), where she oversees the various programs and departments including the Latino Lens Incubators, Latino Media Market, NALIP Media Summit, Diverse Women in Media Forum and Emerging Content Creators Inclusion Initiative, targeted to advancing Latinx and diverse creatives across all media platforms. She promotes inclusion and advocates for Women of Color, and has been a part of those crucial conversations throughout festivals and events such as Sundance, NAB and IFP. She graduated from UC Santa Barbara and attended the UCLA Professionals Program for Film & TV.
Sonia GambaroVP of Television, 3Pas Studios
Sonia Almanza Gambaro is the Vice President of Television at Eugenio Derbez and Ben Odell’s 3PAS Studios. Gambaro was previously a literary manager at Equitable Management and her own company Pollinate Entertainment where she set up and sold projects to Netflix, Hulu, Freeform, Ellation, SonyTV, MWM, EndemolShine and brokered worldwide branding campaigns for clients. She also spent time at Madhouse Entertainment, Televisa USA (“Chasing Life”, “Devious Maids”) and Paradigm Talent Agency. Gambaro began her career in Hollywood as a segment producer after successfully touring over 60 cities as a DJ and mixing on LATV and KIIS-FM.
