Viviane Ferreira was appointed President of Spcine in 2021, she is responsible for overseeing the development, financing, and implementation of programs and policies across all film, TV, games, and new media in São Paulo. As a lawyer, filmmaker, and prominent activist she is driving Spcine’s mission to become a more diverse and inclusive organisation that has a positive effect on the film industry and wider community in Brazil. Viviane is an established filmmaker, her short film Jerusa's Day (2014) was selected for the Cannes Short Film Corner, and was developed into the feature film A Day with Jerusa (2020). She is the founder of Odun Filmes and one of the founding members of APAN, Brazil’s Association for Black Professionals of the Audiovisual Industry which she presided over from 2016-2021. In 2021, Viviane was selected as Chair of the Brazilian Selection Committee for the Oscars®, leading the selection process of the Brazilian representative for the Academy Awards. The combination of leadership, legal acumen, film industry knowledge, and people strategy allow Viviane to contribute substantially across a broad agenda to drive the success of the country's screen industries and cultural landscape to position São Paulo as a global destination for filmmakers. Viviane is a university professor of Film Media at ESPM in São Paulo. She holds a MA in Communications and Culture Policies from the University of Brasilia (UnB) and is a graduate of the prestigious Stanislavisck Institute.
