Philip J. Strina is the Executive Vice-President, Business & Legal Affairs and Head of Production Legal at Lions Gate Films. His work focuses on negotiating various rights, talent, and distribution deals for Lions Gate’s slate of theatrical films and overseeing all production legal matters for Lions Gate’s in-house film productions. Phil handles the business & legal affairs matters for many of Lions Gate’s most successful films, including the “Hunger Games” and “John Wick” franchises and the multiple Academy Award winning “La La Land.” Prior to joining Lions Gate, Phil worked as Senior Vice-President, Business & Legal Affairs at Inferno Films where he negotiated Inferno’s film finance, production, and distribution deals and was responsible for Inferno’s corporate legal matters. Before working at Inferno, Phil worked as an attorney in the business and legal affairs department at New Line Cinema where he negotiated and drafted various types of film acquisition, finance, and co-production agreements for both New Line’s and Picturehouse’s theatrical and home entertainment projects. Phil began his career as an associate attorney at the law firm Costa, Abrams & Coate, LLP where his practice focused on representing independent producer clients in the areas of film financing, production, and distribution. Phil received a joint undergraduate degree in Law and Justice and English Literature from Trenton State College and a concurrent Juris Doctorate degree and degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University School of Law and the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution.
